CONCERT PREPARATION: CLASS TIME – IN HOUSE REHEARSAL – DRESS REHEARSAL

CLASS TIME

We believe the key to a confident and happy performer is preparation. During Term 4, it is important to attend as many classes as possible (except during times of illness). During our weekly classes our students learn choreography, positions and transitions, develop muscle memory, kinaesthetic awareness and grow/ connect with their classmates in the lead up to the show.

IN-HOUSE REHEARSAL

In additional to attending regular classes, we hold an In-House rehearsal so that our students get a chance to:

1) Connect with the other students- encouraging community spirit

2) Practice in front of a friendly audience - building confidence for the big day

3) Get a feel for how the show will run

This rehearsal will take place at the studio on Sunday the 9th of November.

As there will be a large number of students in attendance, please see which studios students should enter for check in:

Primary Students - Studio 4 - Teacher: Miss Georgia

Junior - Studio 3 - Teacher: Anka

Leads/ Seniors - Studio 1  - Teacher: Gabby

  • Please note this is a closed rehearsal to students only, parents will not be permitted in the studio.

What to wear: EDS Uniform

Hair: Low Bun (Long hair), brushed off face (Short hair)

DRESS REHEARSAL

On the day of our concert our students get the opportunity to practice on stage, in their costumes, with their hair and make-up done. This is a very important event and is mandatory for all students wanting to perform. Besides building confidence on the stage, during this rehearsal students learn the following:

-       Backstage etiquette

-       How to organise quick changes

-       How to navigate around the stage before, during and after their dance

-       OH&S practices of the theatre

By engaging in the above areas, our students at Elevation hit that stage with pride and confidence, resulting in an unforgettable experience for performer and audience alike.

What to wear: Arrive wearing first costume

Hair: Low Bun (Long hair), brushed off face (Short hair)

Finale clothes: EDS uniform

*All costumes will be collected after the students finish their items and they will get changed into their EDS uniform for the finale.

TICKETS

Ticket sale date: Tuesday 21st October

There is a cap of 7 tickets per family for the first week of sale and if you wish to purchase more you are welcome to do so after the cap has been removed.

COSTUMES

We try to hire out as many costumes as we can at Elevation. We do this to help reduce single use and therefore subsequent landfill. The hire fee covers the use of costumes, and any alterations/ cleaning required. Whilst we are already taking measurements, ordering, and altering costumes, the students will not receive their costumes till the week before the show and will return their costumes to their teachers at the end of the show. If your costume is a purchased costume, you will be notified ahead of time.

Please read the Extra Costume Document to ensure you have all of your extra costume requirements.

Returning the costumes: All costumes will be returned to us at the theatre at the end of the show, therefore students will need to pack a change of clothes to go home in.

* Please note that any damage and misplaced items of hired costumes whilst in your care will result in a full purchase fee.

MAKEUP

The idea of “stage make up” is to make you look as close to the real you as possible. When you are on a stage with good lighting, your features can be washed out, so make up is used to enhance your natural facial features. If you are uncomfortable putting make up on your child, please do not hesitate in reaching out to discuss this.

Please read the Hair and Make Up Document for more information.

FOOTAGE FEE

All of our concerts are professionally filmed, edited and uploaded onto a private MediaZilla account for the families of Elevation to access to stream for years to come.

FAQ’S

Can I attend the in-house rehearsal?

A: No, due to the amount of children who are involved in the Junior concert we do not have the room for parents in the studio. We also want to keep our performances a surprise!

Can I attend the Dress rehearsal?

A: No, this is a policy put in place by the theatre. All dress rehearsals are closed to the public.

If we can not attend the concert, will we be charged for the costume, rehearsal or footage fee?

A. Yes, the cut off time for notice has now passed. Costumes have already been purchased/ altered for your child, and therefore you will be invoiced for the costume hire/ purchase fee.

What is a body Stocking and do we have to purchase one?

A: It is a flesh coloured undergarment that is perfect to wear under costumes. We highly recommend students who are in multiple items wear a body stocking.

Can we film the concert on our phones?

A: No, we have the concert professionally filmed and it is a policy of EDS and Clocktower that you do not film or photograph our concerts.
